0Our Hon. State Minister for Animal Industry Dr Bright Rwamirama handed over essential equipment to the best-performing farmers across Uganda to promote clean milk handling practices.
The equipment, which includes 389 milk cans, 118 milk buckets, one tricycle, 40 scoops, nine chaff cutters, 49 strip cutters, and eight milk machines, was distributed during an event held at the DDA Uganda Headquarters in Nakasero Kampala.
According to the Minister, the donation is part of efforts to commemorate the clean milk handling campaign.
“By providing these farmers with the necessary equipment, we are empowering them to produce high-quality milk that meets international standards,” the Minister stated.
The event highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the dairy industry in Uganda.
As noted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the dairy sector is a significant contributor to the country’s economy, with thousands of farmers relying on it for their livelihoods.
The donation is expected to positively impact the dairy industry, enabling farmers to improve the quality and safety of their milk production.
The Minister emphasised, “Clean milk handling practices are crucial for ensuring the health and well-being of consumers, and we are committed to supporting our farmers in this endeavour.”
